"Towards a unifided method to tailor hydrophobicity"
Conférence "Towards a unifided method to tailor hydrophobicity" de Rob Mathers, Department of Chemistry, Pennsylvania State University, New Kensington, orfganisé par l'Institut Charles Sadron
Abstract:
The terms hydrophobic and hydrophilic find numerous uses throughout many disciplines of science. Indeed, these concepts provide a framework for understanding a variety of physical phenomena in chemistry, biochemistry, and polymer science. However, depending on the context, many polymers could be described as either hydrophobic or hydrophilic. Inspired by advances in the fields of medicinal and physical chemistry as well as Molecular Dynamics (MD) Simulations, this presentation will examine efforts to create a unified method to predict and tailor the hydrophobicity of macromolecular structures using computational partition coefficients (LogP).
