Curriculum
The courses are organized in Strasbourg on both schools campuses: at the European School of Chemistry, Polymers and Materials (ECPM) on the Cronenbourg campus and at the Strasbourg School of Biotechnology (ESBS) on the Illkirch campus.
This training consists of :
- 40% lab sessions
- 3 compulsory internships, one of which must be abroad
- Multilingualism: English, German and Spanish.
Compulsory TOEIC test in 3A to obtain the engineering diploma.
Weekly schedule of classes :
- Lectures and tutorials: 2 1/2 days at ECPM followed by 2 1/2 days at ESBS or 1 week at one school followed by 1 week at the other school;
- Lab session : 1 full week in each school.
1st Year
Acquisition of a basic scientific foundation in chemistry and biotechnology
Fundamental organic and analytical chemistry, Biochemistry and fundamental biology, Engineering sciences, Humanities, social and economic sciences (English and German, professional project).
Lab session in organic and analytical chemistry as well as in genetic engineering and enzymology.
Interaction with the professional world
Work experience, in order to discover the company. Duration of 4 weeks.
The evaluation is done through a scientific report.
2nd year
Deepening of knowledge in chemistry and biotechnology
Tools for organic synthesis and analytical sciences, advanced biochemistry and biology, engineering sciences, human, social and economic sciences (English and German, bioethics, quality).
Lab session in organic and analytical chemistry, microbiology and process engineering.
Interaction with the professional world
Industrial mission: Tutored industrial project. The aim is to propose innovative solutions and to be initiated to group work (4 to 7 students).
The evaluation is done through a report and an oral defense.
Engineering internship to be carried out in the private sector. Duration of 17 weeks.
The evaluation is done by means of a report.
3rd year (1st semester)
Courses focusing on health and the environment
Humanities, social and economic sciences (English and German, intellectual property)
Tutored internship in a research laboratory in Strasbourg research teams. Duration of 24 weeks.
The evaluation is done through a report and an oral defense.
3rd year (2nd semester)
End of study internship in the private sector. Duration of 5 to 6 months.
The evaluation is done through a report and an oral defense.
